I recently was offered the opportunity to try out some samples from KT Tape. I have tried KT Tape before and I absolutely love it, so I was excited to test out items from the Pro Ice™ line. You can also find the link to my previous KT Tape review at the bottom of this post.
The Pro Ice™ offers Dual-action: Pain Relief* + Cooling Menthol which I thought would be helpful for cooling off muscles, especially on hot days. The first thing I liked about the KT Tape was that the roll comes in a ziplock pouch to keep its freshness. I also like that the strips are precut.
I’ve tried KT Tape in the past and it can be a pain to cut the pieces yourself. I rolled my ankle several years during the 4th mile of a half marathon, and my foot really hasn’t been the same since. So that’s where the KT Tape comes into play! I use it on the inside of my foot to help relieve some muscle soreness and discomfort during my runs. The KT Tape Pro Ice™ is infused with fast-acting Cooling Menthol and I will say that the Cooling Menthol definitely worked fast. The first couple of times I tried it, the cooling sensation was a little startling and I wasn’t sure if I really liked it. After about the third run, I got used to the cooling sensation and didn’t really notice it much.
I also tried using it on my lower back as well, but I did not find that to be very comfortable after removing the tape. However, I had no issue removing it from my foot. You can keep it on for several days, but I usually remove it after a day.
Next, I tried the Ice Sleeve, which offers direct 360° cooling.
The sleeve is great for recovery as well. My left knee bothers me sometimes, so it’s handy to have something to easily apply when it’s acting up. I also like that the sleeve comes in a reusable storage pouch and doesn’t take up much space in the freezer. It’s a nice, smooth gel material and also provides light compression which enhances recovery. You only need to wear it for 20 minutes to gain the full benefits!
Overall, I enjoyed the cooling effect of the KT Tape (after I got used to it). I plan to wear it during my upcoming 5k as well. I also liked the Ice sleeve and will continue to use it for recovery. Even though it’s meant for joint recovery, I did try it on my lower back as well and found it helpful. However, they do offer the KT Health Ice Therapy Pack which is actually meant for those larger muscle groups. I’ve always been a KT Tape fan and I love that their products are evolving and they are expanding into new lines!
You can grab the KT Tape Pro Ice™ for $25.99 and the Ice Sleeve for $31.49. Both products are also HSA/FSA eligible. And be sure to keep an eye for any upcoming Christmas sales as well! They make great stocking suffers!
