I was super excited to receive my newest Walmart beauty box this season! If you recall, Walmart beauty boxes are a flat $5 and are shipped every season. Again, I’ve heard that different people receive different samples in their boxes…so here is a review of what I got in mine!
Walmart got a little coconut happy with this box…maybe they were trying to bring a tropical feeling to the winter blues…I dunno, but so. much. coconut.
Goody slideproof hairbands – I actually love these! I have long, thick and wavy hair, so I am pretty picky when it comes to hairbands. I took these on a three mile run and I was surprised that they didn’t budge! Also no snags or pulling, so I will definitely be purchasing these in the future.
NSpa exotically creamy coconut rich body butter – This has an unnecessarily long name, but I really loved the texture and scent of this cream! It goes on smooth and has a nice creamy feel. The coconut smell was pleasant and not too overwhelming.
Aveeno skin relief body wash (nourishing coconut) – I really liked the feeling of this body wash, but wasn’t a huge fan of the scent. It seemed fake and made me want to get off the island.
Aveeno skin relief lotion (nourishing coconut) – I felt like the lotion was okay, nothing fantastic and again, I wasn’t a fan of this particular coconut scent. I do normally like Aveeno products because some of the products contain natural ingredients. Sidenote: I say “natural” loosely as Aveeno is a division of Johnson & Johnson so a lot of their products aren’t as “natural” as they claim to be. You can research that and draw your own conclusions, that’s just my personal opinion.
Pantene Pro-V extra strong hold hairspray – I think this hairspray did a pretty good job keeping my hair tame throughout the day. It does claim to be humidity resistant for 24 hours, but there isn’t a whole lot of humidity in Southern California so it was hard to really test that. But I did like the smell, it reminded me of cotton candy! Yum!
That’s it for the regular size samples, now on to the one-time use packets…
Jergens wet skin moisturizer (refreshing coconut oil) – I found this lotion to be a bit thin and my skin felt a little irritated after using this right out of the shower. I also wasn’t a fan of the coconut oil scent.
Jergens wet skin moisturizer (nourishing monoi oil – Same feelings as above, except the scent was much nicer.
L’Oreal total repair 5 restoring shampoo – I’m not exactly sure it restored my hair in one use, but my hair felt clean and smelled nice.
L’Oreal total repair 5 damage-erasing balm – This was obviously a thicker texture and meant to be left on for 3-5 minutes. Again, not sure if it erased damage in one use…but I would probably give it another shot.
L’Oreal total repair 5 restoring conditioner – Okay, real talk. I honestly wasn’t sure if I was supposed to use this along with the damage-erasing balm, or use it in a different session. The instructions on both the balm and the conditioner said to use it after using the shampoo, but didn’t specify whether or not they weren’t meant to be used together. Anywho, I used this right after rinsing out the balm because I always need conditioner. My hair felt smooth and clean after and I would probably use this product in the future.
Olay tone perfecting cream – The cream felt nice, but using it once isn’t enough to determine if it was effective in perfecting tones. It had a nice, lingering smell…it kind of reminded me of a grandma, but like a cool and fun grandma.
Olay regenerist wrinkle reducing cream – It claims that visible wrinkle results start after one use, but I couldn’t tell a difference. Although to be fair, I don’t have many wrinkles to begin with. Maybe I will try it again in a few years.
Jennifer Aniston fragrance – See previous blog post for thoughts on this.
L’Oreal skin shade swatch – This little guy was actually pretty handy. How many times do you stand in the aisle staring at all of the foundations and guessing which one will best match your skintone? It’s usually hit or miss, so this little guide takes the guesswork out of all that. There are three levels: warm, neutral and cool. And each level ranges from 1-10. You basically just peel one of the nine swatches off and stick it on your face. Whichever one looks closest to your skintone is the winner! That’s it! Easy as pie! And in case you were wondering, I’m a Cool-1.
Add a few coupons into the mix and that’s a wrap! Another awesome beauty box from WalMart! Get yours here.
What did you get in yours? I would love to know!
